Foundations: An Introduction
Welcome to Foundations in History. This is a new section on my personal website where I plan to write about history. Sure, I have history articles already on my site, but I’m dedicating a special section that will hold all the articles.
The topics will range from Ancient History (you, know the Roman Empire, Greek Mythology, etc.) to modern history (e.g., the September 11 Attacks). Some of the subjects I will write about will be a new journey because my knowledge may not be as advanced as say World War II (you can expect plenty of those articles).
In all, it is my hope that people will find nuggets of things they didn’t know. One of those tidbits might be this: Did you know that in 1932, Germany had more newspapers and periodicals in publication than the United States. Or that the publication numbers in Germany outpaced those of France and Great Britain combined? Or how about this: What was the effect of the implementation of Article 48 in Germany in 1933 on the press?
I will also write extensively about a topic near and dear to my heart: Hollywood and the coordination with the government during World War II. There is a wealth of topics out there including how five of Hollywood’s top directors and other talent put their careers on hold to serve in the war effort.
So, I hope you enjoy this new offering that I plan to feature on the website.
Keep in mind, I am not a substitute for the real experts on these topics. However, I will provide “Further Reading” information for those wanting to learn more about a topic or a different take.
